
PROJECT OVERVIEW
HIALS Runway 27, Melbourne Airport – this project involved the installation of a new High Intensity Approach Lighting System which consists of 179 light fittings and 12m, 50 tonne gantry. The work included:
- Demolition of existing above ground infrastructure including all metal structures
- Construction of metal gantry structure and foundations with a catwalk that will allow service technicians to access the lighting structures across Sunbury Road and Mooneee Ponds Creek Valley on the Runway 27 approach
- Construction of concrete footings for airside lights
- Construction of a number of low-level airside lights and supporting poles
- Construction of two high level airside lights, mast and cross arms
- Installation of sequential approach lights
