PROJECT OVERVIEW

HIALS Runway 27, Melbourne Airport  – this project involved the installation of a new High Intensity Approach Lighting System which consists of 179 light fittings and 12m, 50 tonne gantry. The work included:

  • demolition of existing above ground infrastructure including all metal structures
  • construction of metal gantry structure and foundations with a catwalk that will allow service technicians to access the lighting structures across Sunbury Road and Mooneee Ponds Creek Valley on the Runway 27 approach
  • construction of concrete footings for airside lights
  • construction of a number of low-level airside lightsand supporting poles
  • construction of two high level airside lights, mast and cross arms
  • installation of sequential approach lights
